3d studio max 7, vray renderer

i have finally completed my chess board with all of the pieces. i was getting really bored of doing chess renders with a single pawn, became pretty redundant. but here we have every piece. i must admit, the knight is pretty junkly. i just traced a picture of a knight sideways with spline and then bevel'ed it. but with the refracting maps, you can barely tell that it sucks :D

anywhose, this is hopefully the first of many more chess renders. i plan to have renders for each piece with more established lighting and possibly caustics since the pieces are glass-like.

i seem to like it, i hope you guys do :)

p.s.
here is the wallpaper version (1280x1024): [link]

jeez, some quick comments ;)
thanks guys.

and believe it or not, i made all of the chess pieces in about 2 hours. they're really easy to make to be honest. just draw half of it with a spline, then bevel profile it or lathe it.
Fix the knight and you have a winning play set. This is really lovly on the eye and it is clear that you opted for the more futuristice clean feel, rather than making it like a real downbeat chess set like anyone who owns one is. Nice work
How do you suggest I fix the knight? I think the glass somewhat reduces its obnoxiousness.
the knight looks fine.... it looks a little like a camel though (its still fine!) :) :) :)

Yeah, I thought it matched the theme of all of the other pieces. And the "broken lines" running through it makes the refraction more intense. Otherwise, it would just be a virtually square piece. I think it could be a bit wider and perhaps more defined (looks like the edges of the shape push together too much, like at the mouth).
nice materials. i love the reflections too
